In this spirit, the NHK Welfare Foundation instituted the Tamralipta Awards to honour distinguished individuals and social organizations whose selfless dedication and sustained efforts have contributed significantly to the enrichment of society.

The awards are conferred annually at a dignified and meaningful ceremony, presented by an eminent personality.

Award Categories:

General Guidelines:

1. The Tamralipta Awards are prestigious honours conferred annually.

2. Each year, seven distinguished individuals or organizations are selected across the listed categories.

Category Guidelines

Environment

This category recognizes individuals or organizations who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, including:
A. Water conservation, tree plantation, and river conservation initiatives.
B. Environmental awareness programmes.
C. Efforts to reduce air, water, and noise pollution.
D. Waste reduction and sustainable practices, particularly initiatives aimed at minimizing plastic usage.

Sports & Games

This category honours contributions such as:
A. Promotion and development of sports infrastructure and participation
B. Training and mentoring young athletes, especially from underprivileged backgrounds
C. Encouraging sportsmanship, fair play, and inclusivity
D. Reviving traditional or indigenous sports
E. Making sports accessible for persons with disabilities
F. Outstanding personal achievements in athletics and games such as football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, kho-kho, and others

Education

This category recognizes:
A. Innovative and impactful work in education
B. Contributions to improving literacy, educational infrastructure, and access to quality education
C. Development of effective educational programmes for underprivileged and marginalized communities
D. Integration of technology, vocational training, and skill development
E. Remarkable achievements in the field of literature

Social Services

This category honours individuals or organizations working towards:
A. Promoting peace, harmony, and social cohesion
B. Encouraging unity, brotherhood, and inclusive communities
C. Supporting socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged groups
D. Community development and social empowerment initiatives

Health & Wellness

This category recognizes outstanding contributions in:

Arts & Culture

This category recognizes excellence in:

Tamralipta Lifetime Achievement Award

The Tamralipta Lifetime Achievement Award honours individuals whose lifelong dedication has created a lasting and transformative impact on society.
Purpose:
A. To recognize lifelong service, leadership, and excellence
B. To celebrate sustained contributions rather than individual achievements
C. To inspire future generations through exemplary work

This award may be conferred upon individuals whose contributions span several decades and have significantly shaped their field or community.

Rules and Regulations

1. A five-member Selection Committee is constituted annually by the NHK Welfare Foundation, comprising one Chairperson, one Secretary, and three Members.
2. The final decision rests with the Secretary of the NHK Welfare Foundation.
3. If three committee members unanimously recommend a recipient, the Chairperson shall abide by the decision.
4. In the event of a tie, the Chairperson’s decision shall be final.
5. Applications and recommendations may be submitted online or offline on or before 28 February 2026.
6. Awardees shall bear their own travel and conveyance expenses. For awardees from other states, the committee will provide one night’s accommodation for one person.
7. Each awardee will receive a ceremonial stole, a plated trophy, and a certificate. Monetary incentives may be proposed for future activities.
8. Any disputes shall be resolved internally, and the committee’s decision shall be final.
